The most popular Olympic weed smoker of all time, Michael Phelps was thrown under the bus when a picture of him hitting a bong went viral on social media and was picked up by multiple media outlets. Apparently weed isn't a gateway drug to the fridge... It leads to 22 olympic medals and a Subway sponsorship deal (which I guess is kind of the fridge).
Being from Jamaica, everyone kind of had an inkling on this one, but Usain Bolt was first to admit his cannabis use as a youngster growing up on the streets of Jamaica.
"Everyone tried marijuana, including me, but I was really young."
Turns out Jamaica is a place we need to visit. Now. Soon after his run at the 2012 Olympic games in London, his very own marijuana strain Usain Bolt OG was found popping up at dispensaries in California.
The two-time Olympic medalist and six-time X-Games medalist, Danny Kass was caught back in 2009 in New Zealand with some of his boarder buddies with some ganj in the stash pocket.
This olympic stoner won the 1998 Olympic Gold Medal, but not before testing positive for marijuana. Marijuana wasn't on the IOC's list of banned substances at the time, so Ross Rebagliati got to keep his medal, but not until he was made a joke across the media. He now is trying to start a company in the cannabis industry named Ross' Gold.
Nicholas Delpopolo gained notoriety when he was banned from the 2012 London games for testing positive for marijuana. He claimed he was fed an edible he didn't know was laced with weed before the games began. Suuuuuuuuuure Delpopolo, never heard that one before...
South Lake Tahoe's sweetheart Jamie Anderson just recently won gold at the 2014 Sochi Games in Women's Slopestyle. In a video done by snowboardermag.com, multiple professional snowboarders were asked if they had ever smoked on a chairlift. Miss Anderson was slow to pull the trigger on her answer, leading us to believe she is one with the ganja. If so, another Gold Medal for team cannabis.
