The Golden Globes has always been known as one of the biggest parties of the year in Hollywood. This awards show has always distinguished itself as the bratty younger sibling of the Academy Awards, but the 74th edition of this awards show is already promising to be historic in many different regards. First and foremost, marijuana has now become part of the festivities. This has a lot to do with the fact that pot has just been legalized in the Golden State. So which of our favorite celebs were stoned at the show on Sunday.
Insofar as stars who are stoners, there are some who even feel that a little bit of pot is a necessity for calming the nerves and getting through the ceremony in the first place. This is according to Dina Browner, who has the distinction of being the pot dealer to such stars as Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy), Whoopi Goldberg, and Rapper Wiz Khalifa.
She couldn’t help but talk about one star in particular: “She asked me for indica [a strain of marijuana known for its relaxing properties] because she has social anxiety and gets nervous,” Browner said. “If she wins, hopefully the cannabis will keep her calm in front of the camera.”
Of course, even if something was illegal it has never necessarily stopped any of the stars from imbibing on Mary Jane in public. During her chat with E! Host Giuliana Rancic at the Emmy Awards in 2014, Sarah Silverman shamelessly whipped out a vape pen chock full of liquid THC right in front of everybody. She is expected to attend the Golden Globes.
Evan Rachel Wood, who has been nominated for Best Actress for her work in the HBO Series Westworld, once tweeted out that she was frustrated that she couldn’t smoke weed in 2013 because she was pregnant. Indeed, Susan Sarandon once bragged that she has been stoned at “almost all [Hollywood events] except the Oscars.”
Finally, if last year’s tweets about the Golden Globes are any indication, a fun time should be had by all. “God, I bet Goldie Hawn smokes the best weed. I feel it,” Gerrick D. Kennedy, an award-winning pop music journalist for the L.A. Times, tweeted. “Mozart in the Jungle sounds like a type of weed,” Desus Nice tweeted out. Freddie Campion tweeted out a picture of two actresses that had a “deer in the headlights” look and described it as that moment “when your parents ask you if you are high.” Here’s to the Golden Globes, a pot-smoking extravaganza!
